World, a makeup artist and influencer, believes it’s her calling to reveal the beauty she sees in others. But once the setting spray dries on her clients, she’s not afraid to turn the mirror on herself. After experiencing her mother’s death, World transitioned from long, curly hair to a sharp pixie. Beauty is her catalyst for moving through change. Here, World shares how her hair stylist, Nicole, and Cécred routine continue to support her growth.
As a makeup artist how do you give people joy, or provide joy in people's world?
Well, my goal is to see beauty in everything. So I think doing makeup helps capture people's beauty, pull out that confidence that we all look for.
What role does hair play in your life?
Okay, so hair is a big thing in my life. I went from long curly hair, and then my mother passed. So I was like, I need something new. I need a new feeling. I need a new look. I need something that is going to, revive my life in a sense. So I cut all my hair off, I walked into the salon that day and I said, Okay, I'm doing it. I cut all my hair off and then I always wanted to try a blonde color. Ever since then, I've just been rocking it this way and I love it, honestly.
Was it Nicole who cut it your hair?
Yes, Nicole is my hairstylist. I walked in and she's like, Wait, you want to cut all of this off?
World: Yeah!
Nicole: Are you sure? Do you want to process this moment?
World: No, I got it. I've been telling myself I’m going to do it.
She gave me exactly what I was looking for. The experience was great. She walked me through the process and really helped me through that process. So it was really good.
And you plan on keeping the blonde for a minute?
I do. This is the new me, I'll be here for a while.
