Meet Dr. Kari Williams, Trichologist and Director of Education at Cรฉcred. With over 20 years in the hair industry as a licensed barber, cosmetologist, and salon owner, sheโs bridged the gap between beauty and science and brought this expertise to Cรฉcred.

Cรฉcred: How did you get started in the hair industry?
Dr. Kari: I discovered my passion for hair at a young age and started styling in high school. In college, I became a licensed barber and trained with industry leaders to sharpen my skills. After graduation, I worked in various salons to learn the business side of the industry and explored every opportunity to expand my impact and influence. In addition, Iโve worked closely with medical dermatologists, collaborated as a trainer and consultant for leading hair care brands, and invented the culture-shifting styleโ Goddess Locs.
Cรฉcred: Tell us about your role at Cรฉcred!
Dr. Kari: Iโm the Director of Education at Cรฉcred, where I develop programs, content, and resources to empower professionals and consumers with the knowledge they need to improve their hair health and style their hair confidently using Cรฉcred products.
I also work closely with the Head of Product Development at Cรฉcred to learn about each formulation and the key ingredients that are clinically tested and proven to deliver results. Together, we review the science behind each ingredient and its intended benefits, ensuring the formulations align with real-world hair and scalp needs.
Cรฉcred: Whatโs your favorite memory from working in the salon or a moment that stands out in your journey with hair and scalp care?
Dr. Kari: One moment that truly stands out was when an assistant to a celebrity came in for a last-minute braid appointment. At the time, I didnโt know much about her, but I decided to accommodate her late request. The next day, she reached out to thank me and asked if Iโd be available to braid the celebrityโs hair for an upcoming award show. That moment marked the beginning of a new chapter in my career. Although Iโd worked with high-profile clients before, this experience introduced me to a new level of opportunity, broadening my reach and allowing me to serve even more prominent figures in the industry. It was a pivotal reminder that saying โyesโ to one opportunity can open doors you didnโt even know were there.

Dr. Kari: Cรฉcred is more than just hair careโitโs about creating space for education, community empowerment, and connection. I see Cรฉcred as a bridge between healthy hair practices and cultural traditions, helping people feel confident while honoring the beauty and diversity of their hair. Also, our philanthropic efforts have a direct impact on our communities by providing grants and scholarships to support the beauty industry and the professionals who make a difference in the lives of the people they serve. Having worked in the salon for over 15 years, this mission is very close to my heart.
