How to Add Volume to Hair & Get Bouncy, Lasting Curls

Volume and bouncy curls don’t happen by accident, they start with the right preparation. When you get the foundation right, your hair lifts naturally at the root and keeps its shape all day instead of falling flat after a few minutes. By combining the right products with a few simple techniques, you can achieve body and movement that feels effortless.

How Do I Add Volume to My Hair Naturally?

Voluminous styles start with a clean, weightless foundation. Hair that falls flat is often weighed down by product buildup, natural scalp oil, or scalp buildup. To add volume to hair, start with Clarifying Shampoo & Scalp Scrub to exfoliate the scalp and remove residue from the hair strand. Follow with Hydrating Shampoo, which restores moisture balance without weighing down the hair. Just starting with clean hair is the perfect setup for naturally voluminous hair.

Why Does My Hair Not Hold a Curl?

If your curls are falling flat, it’s likely because the style didn’t get the chance to fully set. When your hair is wet, its hydrogen bonds break, and drying them is what locks them into a new curly shape. If you take the hair down before it’s completely dry, the curls will not last. If you want to learn how to make curls last longer, apply Wrap & Set Foam to the hair before styling. This gives the hair curl memory and a flexible hold while it dries into the perfect, bouncy shape.

How to Get Bouncy Curls With The High Roller Set

Phase 1: The Clean Foundation

Voluminous styles start with a clean, weightless foundation. Start with the Cécred Double Cleanse using Clarifying Shampoo & Scalp Scrub to remove oil, residue, and build up from the scalp and hair, followed by Hydrating Shampoo to restore moisture and softness. Hair that is clean and hydrated will hold volume better than hair that is coated in old product.

Phase 2: The Product Application

On damp hair, apply Wrap & Set Foam evenly throughout each section. This formula is concentrated, so a little goes a long way. This step creates the structure needed for the hair to hold shape as it dries.

For even distribution, use a Vented Paddle Brush or Parting Tail Comb. The hair should feel coated with product but not weighed down.

Phase 3: The Set

Working in sections, roll the hair with even tension and secure each roller in place. If needed, apply additional foam to the ends to help mold them smoothly around the roller. Immediately sit under a dryer and allow the hair to dry completely. This step is critical. Hair must dry fully in its shape for the set to hold. If any moisture remains, the curl will not last.

Phase 4: The Release & Finish

Once the hair is fully dry, remove the rollers and gently separate the curls to your desired volume and finish. Avoid over-combing or over-brushing, as this can break down the curls too quickly. For added longevity, finish with Flexible Hold Hairspray to maintain volume and movement without stiffness.

The secret to lasting volume isn’t more product, it’s a better set. The Cécred Double Cleanse provides a clean foundation for the lift, Wrap & Set Foam adds the structure, and a full dry-down locks the shape in place. By being intentional with each step, you create a bouncy, full-bodied look that moves effortlessly all day.
